Words by The Parlour Room

As part of The Bridal Edit, our online resource for all your pre-wedding beauty tips, including what treatments to book and when, expert advice, and your very own complimentary bridal beauty checklist, we share the stories of our TPR Brides so you too can be inspired and prepared as you plan ahead for your wedding day.

This week we share the story behind the wedding of TPR Bride Anna Harris. After having to postpone three times in the height of covid, the couple tied the knot in late February earlier this year at the iconic Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. With 350 guests, the couple went for a ‘less is more’ approach. For Anna, it was important was that with each and every decision that they could look back in 20 years and still be happy with their choices. Ultimately knowing that everyone was able to enjoy themselves and remember the love and happiness shared on the day.

To find out all the magical details that went into Anna’s special day, read the full interview below where she also shares the advice she has for future brides, as well as the exact skin and beauty regimes she followed to ensure she was looking and feeling her best.

The Backstory

George and I are an original covid couple! We had planned to get married in June 2020 however, due to covid and like many others, we had to postpone our wedding 3 times. Each time we postponed, 2-4 weeks out before the big day there would be the harshest of restrictions and we could not proceed at all.

On date number 4, 18th of February 2022 we finally were able to have our wedding! However, before all of this in 2019, I had a great time planning our wedding.

As we are both Greek Orthodox we had no choice but to have a ‘big fat Greek wedding’ with 350 guests. I always wanted a hotel wedding with a big hall to accommodate our friends and family (and it also needed that big dance floor!). I was very fortunate that our venue Four Seasons and all of our vendors worked so well with us during each postponement which made the date changes a lot easier.

The Inspiration…

I live by the saying ‘less is more’ which was the theme for our wedding.

The inspiration was elegant, classy and timeless in every aspect, from my dress to our venue, styling, photography and videography and everything in between, even my father-in-law’s old-school vintage Mercedes cars that we were lucky enough to use for our wedding.

I wanted to stay true to who we are and be able to look back on our day in 20 years and still be happy with our choices. I opted for a classic bridal look, with bronze make-up and my hair up in a bridal bun. I later had make-up touch-ups and my hair out for a different look for the reception.

After all the postponements, all I truly wanted was for our family, friends and guests to have the best night and remember the happiness we all shared. It was so important to us to have amazing music and live entertainment, I can truly say everyone was on the dance floor and partied all night long.

The Prep…

Skincare

As soon as I got engaged in 2019 I really started to take care of my skin. On my wedding day I wanted my skin to be glowing and this does not happen overnight. It is so important to go and speak to a professional therapist to create and perfect an everyday routine that is suited to your skin.

Being consistent with this routine and receiving facials every 3-6 months is what I did to try and achieve glowing skin. My favourite facial was a customised enzyme peel and I did these facials religiously and a few times more than expected as my date was constantly postponed!

Beauty

One of the most important things with skin and beauty is your fake tan. I took my whole bridal party including my mother’s and sister in laws to TPR for their tans! My bridesmaids and I got the Bondi tan, and I wanted us all to be glowing and naturally tanned. I wanted all of my girls to have their natural beauty enhanced and this is what the tans achieved.

And of course I had all of my eyebrow, hair and nail appointments the fortnight before the wedding

Her advice for future Brides-To-Be…

The most important thing is to just celebrate the love you share with your partner, you want to look back on the day and remember the happiness you felt.

Try to be organised and decisive, get an event coordinator if you need help, and book make-up artists and hairdressers that you use and know – they will put extra care into your day and looks. It is only one day and it does not need to be overdone, let the day represent you as a couple and enjoy all of the highs and even the lows (our low = covid) because you never get this time back!
