For this edition, we feature TPR bride Adele Canturi, who married her partner in April with a gorgeous vintage Italian style wedding, where they made sure to showcase their love for food, family, and romance with a loving tribute to both of their late grandmother’s with a theme of ‘Nonna’s Garden’.

The Backstory

After being together for almost 10 years (making us little high school sweethearts) Alex and I got married on Saturday April 24, 2021, just over a year after getting engaged in 2020.

I am a chef and Alex a restaurateur so our lives revolve around food. It was only right that we got married at the restaurant Alex and his family have run and owned for over 25 years! Ecco Ristorante in Drummoyne was the backdrop to our wedding.

We dressed the restaurant with traditional red roses, potted herbs and Italianate cast iron garden furniture to really capture the Italian theme. We wanted our culture, interest in food and love for eachother to really show throughout the whole day.

Due to covid we had to cut (and cut) the list, from over 200 people down to 160. Coming from such big Italian families this was quite a difficult task. But in the end I was so happy with the smaller number of people as the day felt super intimate and comfortable. Everyone there was super special to us and the love could really be felt amongst us all.

The Inspiration…

Pretty soon after we got engaged we both sat down and decided on a persona for the wedding. We really wanted it to be authentic to us as a couple, showcasing our love for food, family and romance. We threw around words like; Italian heritage, high romance and chic. This led us to our theme of 'Nonna's Garden' - A tribute to our late grandmothers.

It was all the little touches that helped emulate this vintage Italian theme. Making my own wedding cakes (4 of them), traditional red roses, tabled decorated with family crystal and crocheted doilies by our Nonni as well as a gelato cart and a whole pig on a spit for supper.

We worked hard to carry this theme throughout the whole wedding. We had vintage cars, one of which was my Dad's vintage 1969 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda, handwritten thank you notes and very classical looks between us and our bridal party.

I was inspired by true Hollywood glam, having my long hair curled and brushed out, clean makeup with a statement winged eyeliner and super special jewels made by my Dad to match my engagement ring.

My dress was a custom Alex Perry gown with a tight corset, fishtail bottom and sheer sleeves. I then chose to change into a second mini Alex Perry cocktail dress so I was free to dance all night (something I would absolutely recommend to any future bride).

The Prep…

Skincare

I was very lucky that I didn't need many facials or skin treatments pre wedding. However I did use serums at home that contributed to my wedding day glow.

Hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and niacinamide at home every day to keep my skin super hydrated and bright. The one treatment I did every few months was a chemical peel. This helped me with all those stubborn black heads and keeping all my pores cleaned out.

It's super helpful for brides to become close with their beautician leading up to the wedding so they can help you with a plan for the best treatments for your skin!

Beauty

A month before the wedding I came into The Parlour Room for a practice spray tan, to find the right colour! I also purchased their incredible cuticle oil and used it every night to make sure my nails were in their best condition for the big day.

A few days before the wedding I booked for myself and my four bridesmaids to come in and get our mani pedis and spray tans all together.

I chose Barely Buff shellac for my hands and feet and the Bondi spray tan all done by the amazing Emma!

Her advice for future Brides-To-Be…

Be true to who your and your partner are as a couple! Everything on the day should show just how much you both love each other.

Definitely get a second dress to dance the night away in.

Take care of yourself in the lead up to the wedding. Get massages and use cuticle oil.
