Words by The Parlour RoomIt’s always a special time when future brides to be walk through our doors and entrust us with their bridal beauty needs. From skincare and beauty and everything in between, here at The Parlour Room we love helping our clients look and feel their best, especially when it comes to their bridal journey.
With the launch of The Bridal Edit, we are so excited to introduce this new series where we chat to our TPR brides and ask them to share their journey so that you too, can be inspired and get excited as you plan ahead for your special day.
To launch this new series, we start with The Parlour Room’s very own founder and most recent bride, Natalie Ferrari (Papadopoulos). Here she shares the secrets to her bridal beauty routine including the exact treatments she booked in for, which bridal facial is best and her non-negotiables for a healthy mind and body in order to look and feel her best in the lead-up and morning of, her wedding day.
We were originally meant to get married in Italy last year but like so many other brides, unforuntaely we had to cancel. We only decided to get married in January, so I had 3 months to get everything ready. From the venue, floral, catering, decor, although I already had the dress so that was one less thing to stress about.
We couldn’t go to Italy, so we wanted to bring some of the luxe Mediterranean feel to Sydney. We wanted everything to feel very relaxed and easy, and fun.
I’ve always been good with my at-home skincare however like all brides-to-be I wanted to make sure my skin was absolutely glowing the day of, so I enlisted the help of professionals. While I was lucky enough to have access to these beautiful treatments, I really think the best results came from a consistent skincare regime at home, a combination of using high-quality products, and a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Once a month I would have a Fire and Ice facial to help resurface the skin and smooth out any uneven skin tone, every fortnight I booked in for a Signature Facial and every other week I had an Omnilux light.
I also knew I wanted a spray tan and the best tans always start with a flawless foundation so I was really strict with my moisturising and exfoliated regularly both at home and booking in for the Vanilla Body Bliss treatment at SELF (my skin always feels so soft and fresh afterwards).
I was careful not to do anything different leading up to the wedding and the morning of was no different. I made a point of drinking plenty of water in the week leading up to and cut out all alcohol just to be sure. The morning of it was all about hydration and prepping my skin so that when the MUA arrived it was really soft and dewy.
The skincare routine: Bioderm micellar water, Isclinical cleansing complex, O cosmedics EGF serum, O cosmedics comfort cream, Isclinical hydra cool mask, Drunk elephant d bronzi anti- pollution sunshine drops, Rationale 5 & 6, Mecca save the face SPF, Laneige lip sleeping mask.
While I’m a regular at TPR, in the months leading up to the wedding I wanted to make sure my nails were in the best condition, so I booked in for the Nail Recovery Treatment. I had this about 2-3 times and it really helped strengthen them and prevented and further chipping or splitting. The week before I booked in for all my wedding beauty prep; I had my brows styled and tinted as well as my lashes and all my waxing done. Two days before I had my spray tan, the day before I booked myself and the rest of the bridal party in for our nails and also booked in for a final Omnilux light facial.
The wedding wasn’t until the afternoon, so we had the morning to really relax and take it all in. After doing The Pilates Class Bridal Glow workout we went for a walk (with SPF of course), showered, moisturised and then it was time for HMU. The beautiful Katie Angus did all our makeup and Raymond was on hair. I wanted to look and feel the best version of me, so that meant going for a look that I felt completely comfortable in. I made sure to do both a hair and makeup trial a few weeks earlier so I knew exactly what to expect.
Tan: TechnoTan Caramel
Nails: Shellac
Lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury
Living in Clovelly, I’m lucky enough to have Fluidform pilates right around the corner and have been working with Stacey and the girls for the past two years to help build up my strength. I love it there so much, it’s where i’m able to switch off from running the salons and have some me-time. I feel so strong and walk out of there with so much energy. I usually make 1-2 classes a week but in the 3 months leading up to the wedding, I started going 4 times a week and adding in a walk each day (wearing SPF) around Centennial Park.
The day of the wedding, my bridesmaids and I woke up and did the Bridal Glow workout by The Pilate Class, followed by a walk down in Rushcutters bay with a coffee to just get grounded and start the day right.
While things will go wrong, you’ll always work through it. At the end of the day, it is what it is and you’re going to be surrounded by the people you love most so make the most of it. Drink champagne, have your cake and dance the night away!
