Words by The Parlour RoomIt’s always a special time when future brides to be walk through our doors and entrust us with their bridal beauty needs. From skincare and beauty and everything in between, here at The Parlour Room we love helping our clients look and feel their best, especially when it comes to their bridal beauty journey.
With the launch of The Bridal Edit, our online resource covering absolutely everything you need to know, (including what treatments to book and when, expert advice and don’t forget your complimentary bridal beauty checklist), we are so excited to introduce this new series where we chat to our TPR brides and ask them to share their journey so that you too, can be inspired as you plan ahead.
To launch this new series, we feature TPR bride Claire Johnson.
Our wedding was at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel in April, it was originally supposed to be last year but due to Covid we had to reschedule twice! We ended up bringing our guest list right down and only getting married with our immediate family in attendance as it was getting really difficult to organise with so many of our friends and family interstate and overseas. We had the ceremony on the terrace balcony of one of the hotel rooms, followed by dinner downstairs in the restaurant. Even though it wasn’t what we originally had in mind, everything about the day was perfect!
Because it was a smaller wedding, we tried to keep it pretty relaxed but still in keeping with the beachside theme of the venue when selecting our flowers and styling. For my hair and makeup, I ended up going for more of a non-traditional look of taupe nails and a smokey pink eye. When it came to my look for the day (even with my wedding dress) I just wanted to wear what I knew I would feel comfortable in and what suited me. I also went with my hair up in case it was windy down by the water, definitely the right decision!
About six months before the wedding I added vitamin B and vitamin C serums to my daily skincare routine, both of which have improved the texture of my skin and reduced breakouts.
From six weeks out I started getting LED light therapy twice a week. This made such a huge difference, it really helped reduce dark spots and brighten my complexion. Four weeks out I had my injectables done, and then the week prior to the wedding I had my eyebrows shaped.
The day before the wedding I saw the lovely Hannah at the Parlour Room for a shellac mani and pedi in Gelish Rodeo to Rodeo Drive, followed by a spray tan.
I made sure to get it done first thing in the morning so I could have a couple of showers and give it time to settle before the wedding the next day.
Make a plan at least 6 months out of all the beauty prep you want to do, and get your appointments in early to avoid any last-minute panic.
I also highly recommend doing something nice with your partner to take time out from the stress in the lead up. My husband and I went for a massage at Self a couple of weeks before the wedding and it was such a lovely treat.
