After having to postpone her wedding twice, TV presenter and TPR regular Erin Holland tied the knot with the most magical wedding held in Byron earlier this year. Wearing two custom J’Aton gowns and surrounded by a sea of cherry blossoms, here Erin shares all the gorgeous details that went into planning and preparing for the special day.
Ahhhh where do I begin! Our wedding was a bit of a long and arduous journey – I am forever in debt to my friends, family, guests and vendors for putting up with the 3 date changes we had!!
Originally in June last year, then December, finally landing on February 13th 2021, at the stunning Elements of Byron resort. We just managed to sneak it in before Ben’s international cricket schedule began, so he actually left me 2 DAYS LATER for 4 months. Totally not ideal, but given where we are back at with restrictions and the lockdowns, it’s totally not lost on me how incredibly lucky we were to have our day with the most minimal of inconveniences in the end!!
Both of our families are from Queensland, but I have spent the last 14 years of my life in Sydney, so we had an even split of where guests were coming from. I wanted an outdoor ceremony that overlooked the beach but wasn’t right on the shoreline in the sand (girl wanted to wear her heels!!) and the only place I fell in love with truly was Elements of Byron’s Heart of the Bay.
I had the most exquisite J’Aton gowns for my day that were incredibly detailed, so I wanted something fresh, soft, and natural, with some lash. Ariela Dundovic is my go-to makeup artist in Sydney, so there was never a doubt who would be doing my makeup for the big day. She knows how to achieve flawless coverage that stays the distance, something you really want for a long wedding day!!
To be honest, I let my incredible wedding stylist and florist Kashaya Williams go and create magic. Other than showing her a couple of inspiration photos, she did the rest! Modern, chic white-out for the reception, and cherry blossoms with white and blush orchids and roses for the ceremony. I’ll let the photos do the talking! She was incredible.
My skin journey was well drawn out thanks to the delays in the day, so I was on my skincare routine for well over a year!! I was having regular Omnilux sessions, plus strong glycolic peels from Jocelyn Petroni about every 4-6 weeks, plus using daily Vitamin A from Ultraceuticals. Daily collagen Sachets from Vida Glow to brighten the complexion, plus my normal routine of cleaning and moisturising with my La Roche Posay Effaclar cleanser and Duo + moisturising, to keep any breakouts at bay! My skin has never looked and felt so good.
There’s only one place I would trust for my Wedding tan or Manicure/ Pedicure – The Parlour Room. My nails are always New Romance SNS (THE BEST BRIDAL COLOUR EVER!!) and my toes a mix of “Bold is in the Bare” and “Chiffon my mind” shellac to match. Tan wise, the best glow I have ever had is a Weekend in Bondi. Photographers make a point of saying each time that it’s the most natural tan they’ve ever seen, with no orange undertones.
Absolute no-brainer!!
We have no way of knowing how long this pandemic is going to continually affect our lives. Weddings are stressful enough, but adding on the extra disappointments of date changes, family members stuck overseas unable to come, dealing with everchanging restrictions, losing vendors with date changers and the rest, try not to let it come between you and your partner too much.
I was guilty of taking out a lot of my stress, frustration and anxiety on my partner, and now the day is done, you truly realise that the day is perfect just how it is, however it ends up being, as long as it’s the two of you there and doing it for the right reasons. What matters is what you both want, so try to block out the outside noise and advice from whoever, and do what is right for you. ❤️
